Poor starter selection
One thing I think that needs to be added to the robot starting pitcher selection system is that days rest, in addition to BFAs, should be part of the selection process, to avoid a quick hook in one game leading to another start two games later.
In a Trad league (T198, Baradur) I brought up Clay Condrey for a spot start - I was on the road, set him to pitch first, and let the robot pick the rest as my other starters were lined up after him. He is listed a long reliever, I set him for rotation in manager options, with 22 BFA and 2 recovery.
He starts game one, gets pulled after 19 Batters faced, apparently with 2 on in the 6th (given the inherited runners scored info) after allowing 0 runs, 1 hit and 3 walks. This takes him to 3 BFA available.
After two days rest, the robot starts him for game 4, because he had reached the 10 BFA needed for a reliever to start. This is with two starters with 4 and 5 days rest available and with full BFA, both listed as starters in a five man rotation. Unfortunately the robot then pulls him after 7 batters and 2 innings (no runs), leaving my long releivers to get hit around.
Now, I know how the robot came to its decision, but as it was clearly not my intent to use the picther that way, it would be nice to block the robot from the short outing/bring the same guy back after 2 days logic. Maybe the robot should be forced to allow X days off - maybe 3 days in a five man rotation?
Any thoughts?
