response by owner in question
Not that I feel the need to defend myself- but since I am bored at work figured I would stir the pot some more. This trade stands alone and is not part of any other deal in this league or any other. It was really a spur of the moment thing with little thought involved. Leonard posted in the trade forum saying who was available and what he would like in return. You can still see his post there if you care to check. I saw the post and sent him an offer. He accepted within a couple hours.
Could he have got a better offer if he waited? Probably. Will those picks make his team? Probably not. But I love to see him out there trying to improve his team for next year since he is out of it this year.
By the way- what did you think of our previous trade- now that one is worthy of some discussion:
Hidalgo, Redman, Lawton for Soriano.
And I must say I am curious which owner you are and how long you have been in this league. Cause this league is famous for some of the most one-sided trades ever that built a one team DYNASTY (value for 2003 currently at 118) while the other managers involved in those trades resigned/disappeared within the year. Where were you then- we could have really used your voice- the rest of us just shook our heads and didn't speak out(well- we did some- but not enough)...
Which brings me to a point. I know it would never fly as a "rule"- and I'm not saying it should be one- but I think it would be good practice for managers to post in the league forums about any major trade proposals. You very well may have a "fair" offer/deal but then find another person willing to pay more. How many times have you seen a trade go through and said "man- I would have offered way more than that for him!".
Anway- I welcome the feedback and encourage all leagues to post those trade offers, trade thoughts, team news, whatever and let's liven this site up!
