Anyone notice how the game.....
seems to favor some players over others? I took a survey of 2 players..one I have in 2 leagues and the other I do not have in ay league, but have always noticed he's near top in offensive yr after yr in the leagues I'm in. I did the survey for all the TRAD leagues for these 2 players. The formula I used was to take thier #AB in the league and divide it by the #AB they actually had to come up with a # to times thier other offensive catagories (i.e. 350 AB in league divided by 600 AB in RL = .583). The offensive catagories used were: runs, hits, (doubles + triples + HRs = extra base hits), RBIs, BBs and Ks. Then I added the R, H, XBH, RBI, and BB percentages and minused the K percentage and divide that number by 6 to come up with the value of how the player did in that league compared to his normal stats. For instance, if the player was equal to 100% in each catagory, then is value would be 66.667. The 2 playe I used were 1) Pujols (.314/.394/.561 118 R, 188 H, 40 2B, 2 3B, 34 HR, 127 RBI, 72 BB, 69 K) and 2) Olerud (.300/.403/.490 85 R, 166 H, 39 2B, 0 3B, 22 HR, 102 RBI, 98 BB, 66K).
Results????:
PUJOLS = ave. for 27 leagues = 52.967 (about 79.45% of real stats). Highest = 63.883 (95.8%), Lowest = 42 (63%)
Olerud = ave. for 27 leagues = 62 (93%). Highest = 78.1 (117.1%), Lowest = 38.933 (58.4%)
Overall, Olerud was higher then Pujols' highest rating 7 times, was rated 60 (90%) or better 14 times to 9 for Pujols and had only 1 rating below 45 (67.5%) to 3 for Pujols. Olerud did better in runs (92.2%/77.1%), hits (100%/93.6%), exta bases (98.4%/83.7%) RBIs (84.1%/70.9%) and Ks (92.5%/109.8% lower is better here) while Pujols only advantage was in BB (102.3%/91.7%).
NOW.....with all this said, des this make my point as to the game favors some players over others? Maybe, maybe not, but it makes for a strong aguement for it.
