Major impact
...hard to see how this has any long term impact on the league or even significant short term impact.
Still, I'm glad the COMMISH is looking over trades but maybe this time it was getting late requiring a snap decision while tired.
One does have to ask why you would trade for Guillen when you have Jeter AND Renteria.
I suppose it does make it easier to make a more significant trade of either Jeter or Renteria knowing you still have a serviceable backup???
And IMOP the INN pitcher on StL - Joe Mays - is likely to perform as well as either Neagle or what's his name...(Mays has a 3.88 ERA in 65 innings for StL so far so that doesn't look like a bad assessment.) Adding Mays to the mix StL doesn't seem severely hurting for pitching innings.
I can see why the COMMISH might have questioned the trade, but the total impact is so minor it wasn't worth the effort.
Personally, I like Guillen a lot more than the 2 pitchers, but then in an RT league this year I did trade Guillen for Al Leiter as (several of) my starters went under the knife for TJ surgery. At the time Leiter was INN (not much better even yet..).
