Here's one to be filed under the title of "Huh?".

I brought up several pitcher from my farm team and didn't assign them roles, so they wouldn't be used in away games. Wrong! The first three games of the current series have all been started by pitchers without assigned roles in place of rested pitchers with roles. Another un-assigned pitcher was used in relief.

If my memory isn't as faulty as my managing, every other time I've had an un-assigned pitcher he sat on the bench and rusted away.

Any ideas why now?
