There is no need to be insulting. I am responding because you do not seem to be a jerk and we actually agree on several issues in the game. I am not on the fence. I absolutely don't think it is cheating. I am perhaps more careful about the word cheat than you. I think it is a very serious accusation. If chuck was cheating, so are the many, many (IMO) owners who take more subtle actions with the purpose of making their team come in the lottery. That is not to say that I think this behavior is good for the game; it isn't. That is why I think their should be repercussions if conclusively caught. Taking away the lottery pick is one possibility I think you suggested -- thinking about it, I probably would not support this as he acted within the rules. Another possible repercussion is simply the embarassment of being outed in the league. That seems to have been pretty effective here (the owner in question has quit posting and has moved out of the lottery field.) The Zeke poster implies he drove off a manager by outing him -- whether or not that was a good thing I will leave to others to discuss.
You jumped on me for comparing PB to the real thing. If you instead view it as a pure strategy game, the actions some managers take (subtle or not) to improve picks make absolute sense. As I said, the intentional walking behavior is a detriment to the game but the current rules are set up to encourage it. My sense from reading your posts over the months is that you would be outraged if someone tried to change a rule on you after the fact. Community peer pressure seems to be a decent repurcussion to me, but if more is needed change the rules going forward. I have suggested that the pick order be determined by win to PB value ratio with the teams split up into 8 team groups by total pb value. Do you have a suggestion?
