Re: Hoffman vs Corsi
The only advantage a Trevor Hoffman closer would have over a Jim Corsi is that Hoffman would more likely be able to continue in the role for several years. Corsi might require you to restock your closer next season. Otherwise, I agree. You're better off taking solid starting pitchers and good everyday players over closers. You can fill your 'pen pretty easily in the middle rounds. You won't get a Greg Maddux-type starter or Albert Belle-type hitter in the middle rounds. Those are the more rare and harder-to-trade-for commodities.
