An egalitarian approach to the FA draft
What if...
The FA draft was run such that teams not making the playoffs drafted all 8 of their rounds and THEN the playoff teams drafted 8 rounds from the remaining players.
This could break up dynasties and increase the chances of ALL teams to compete for the title each year.
Which is more fun?
1) A league where you build up a powerhouse team who wins over 100 games each year and is assured of they playoffs by mid-season with a 20+ game lead.
2) A league where you are challenged for the championship and the final series determines who makes it while all 5 teams are in contention for a playoff spot with 20 games left to go in the season?
Option 1 is awfully attractive isn't it? But eventually you may find that the other 4 teams in your league are unmanaged.
