Who'd Be Interested In Winter Leagues?
I ask because RT leagues have become extremely frustrating for me, what with the consistently late stat updates and missed FA drafts. The commish obviously doesn't have the time to manage RT leagues properly, and I can't imagine that changing next year. TRAD leagues don't interest me at all since you're always dealing with last year's stats, so I just don't see the point. So what I propose is a Winter league that would be a compromise between RT and TRAD.
A Winter league would work like a TRAD league but start as soon as the real-life baseball season ends. You could do all the drafts in mid-October, get the season rolling by November, and then play all through the winter, spring and early summer. That way, our off-season would take place during the real-life pennant drives, so there'd be plenty of baseball to keep our interest piqued. I don't think many people would drop current teams in favor of winter league teams since most of the games would be played at different times.
Since stats are all ready to go, I don't see why the commish couldn't organize one of these pretty quickly. All it would involve is setting up a league, a formation draft, and a schedule, and then we'd be ready to go. Even if something started in late November or early December this year, it'd be a lot better than nothing all winter, right?
If you're interested, respond to this message. If there's enough interest, maybe the commish will be able to organize a winter league. You TRAD owners were already looking at next year's PB values, so I'm sure there'd be a bunch of people who'd be interested in something like this. I know I'd be among the first to sign up.
