Sorry that your not happy with the current situation of RT.

I'm not sure what the advantage is of a Winter league over RT as we have it now. Remember that a season lasts almost 8 months when you include the playoffs. Thus if we started in October, we wouldn't be done until almost July.

Here is the current RT situation:

This year we started the season 5/29. The season will end on 1/6, then playoffs take us into Feb. The earliest the season could have started would have been 3 weeks earlier, on 5/6. This would have meant the season ends on 12/25, with playoffs taking us into late Jan. No matter what happens, no matter when we start, we will always have at least 1/3 of the season played traditionally.

Why does this occur, mainly because we play 5 games a week, the majors average 6 games. Even if we started the season exactly when the majors do(not possible since we need at least a months stats, rookie & FA draft, etc.) we would still have 30 games to go. Since we have to wait at least a month, we end up with a minimum of 50-55 games in traditional format no matter what is done in the future.

Thus the difference between 55 games and 70 games(how many we will play this year) is so small that we shouldn't worry so much about starting late. Just remember that we will always be playing minimum of 55 games in traditional mode.

We could solve this by switching to 6 games a week, thus cutting down on the number of traditional type games teams would have to play.

Even with all this, RT is still much different than traditional leagues. In a traditional league, if you have built up a 10 game lead, most likely you will hold on to the lead. Not so in RT as the stats have changed dramatically since the first part of the season.

Example: I have Glaus, he started off hot the first third of the year, now he is injured. Since then I've had to make trades to replace his bat, and I've lost games in the standing in the last few weeks. The 2nd half of the season will be much more difficult. In a traditional league, and owner knows all this in advance and has already made adjustments for the coming year(i.e. platoon partner for Glaus).
