Manual is CLEAR
Tim
I know that you, along with several others who have responded, have been long time PB players. I've been playing for 5 years. I've not won a Championship but I do make the playoffs on occassion and have some luck (good and bad) once in awhile. The frustration with delays has grown and now has owners guessing as to what's going to happen as opposed to following a straight-forward timetable and schedule.
I disagree with your philosophical arguement that any information about a possible next round opponent is unimportant. I do agree that the primary goal is to win the current series. I feel I should have the opportunity to weigh that information even if other managers may totally ignore it. Because I look at a possible matchup does not mean I'm confident about the one I'm in...only that I want to come out as strong as I can going into the next round, should I advance. Obviously, if I need to use my Ace Starter for Game 7, I will. In addition, as we are all finding out, the relationship between real-life baseball and the PB version is not the same thing.
Secondly, I humbly argue that an interpretation of the manual is not required. Its in black and white with some added notations. It reads very plainly....
"3 days to play games 3,4,5
1 day to get instructions in for games 6,7
2 days to play games 6,7 of round 2...
Note: Less detail is shown on the actual schedule page but there is a pattern which is followed in each round as shown above.
NOTE: TECH runs the play-offs and may allow for changes in the schedule based on manager's schedule conflicts within reason. TECH will attempt to stay in touch with all participants but may not be able to. If you have a question about the schedule please contact TECH."
The pattern established is that there is SOME TIME between games 5 and 6 to submit a lineup. I think anyone who has played this game would agree that the reasonable expectation has been set that there would be time between 5 and 6. Besides, how would I know that the ROBOT is playing the games and that an extension was not granted for another owner to play the games late. The notes all address possible delay scenario's. NO WHERE does it even imply that time CAN be CUT from away instructions to make up for previous delays.
I have yet to receive a reply from Mike. AS SOON as I saw games 3-5 ended I emailed to ask for time for away instructions because the schedule immediately went into "pending" notation and I was no longer able to click on it.
