Trading In General

Posted By Tim Shine

I'm curious to know if anyone else has noticed what I have about off-season trading so far.

I have had a generalized post up in every Trad. league since 12/7. I have received a substantial number of trade offers (and actually I have made some trades) but most of them have been from teams that will certainly make the playoffs in their respective leagues. It seems that the vast majority of managers out there who are looking to trade are re-tooling for another run at their League title.

While there is nothing wrong with this I wonder where are the other 95% of managers. It just seems to me that teams in the middle of the pack or rebuilding teams should be just as anxious to trade.

Of course, some of these teams may be running up against the managers referred to in paragraph two and prying hands are trying to relieve them of their only prospects or super stars. Seems that the rich always want to get richer. It is the American way.

I would recommend (at the expense of getting lots of bad posts here) that manager stay away from the teams that perennially are on top and trade with the lesser guy. It will take time but it may be another way to gain some parity. How often do you see the team with 100+ wins the previous season with a lottery pick in the draft - too often. Someone is trading away their future and helping the elite stay elite.
