I have not read all the posts but if Tim did advise against trading with cap-affected teams as Brian's message suggests, that is a big mistake.

Teams under the cap should want to try to deal with cap-affected teams. You have a better chance of improving your team by acquiring talent-I emphasize talent. If there is a 36+ year old player who happened to have popped some good #'s last year, yes-you would be advised to not pay up for him but as owner of a team that does have a cap problem in G4, i look at this as a challenge and way to restructure my team by trading in some cases, 2-3 very good players for a star.

There is a pretty good chance that the cap-affected team will be more creative (read Will Not Automatically Try to Cheat You) and strike a deal that will help you.

I always take time to look at the team I am trading with to assess their needs and see if the deal I am proposing makes sense. I am sure there are times I probably pointed out weaknesses in my trading partners team before he identified them himself but so be it. If the deal helps us both, better chance we will trade again
