This is completely insane
Suppose a team in cap trouble has a player that would easily go in the first round of FA (possibly in the top 5 picks).
If this player gets traded for a FA #2 then the team getting the player is getting a lot better player than they would have gotten with the FA #2. And the team trading the player is getting SOMETHING for the player.... so in this case EVERYONE OBVIOUSLY WINS.
Even if this mythical player (who is worthy of a top 5 pick in FA draft) gets traded for a FA #1 there is a 75% chance that the team aquiring the player is better off than he would be getting with the FA#1 pick. Even in this case its POSSIBLE THAT EVERYONE WINS.
To boycott trading for this player may hurt the team over the cap.... but it also collectively helps everyone else in the league... assuming you could have gotten a good deal on the player.
So are you advocating that owners should risk screwing themselves in an effort to make sure the over the cap team gets screwed as well?
If this is what is being advocated.... well I think thats insane.
