Cap trading and 27 man cut limit.

Posted By KenG

I'll trade with anyone, anytime. So does Tim, and many other owners.

I think Tim was trying to give this advice. When trading with a cap strapped team(or a team that has 30 good players and is over 27) you are dealing from a position of strength. You should use this to your advantage.

If a guy is worth a 1st round rookie or 1st round FA pick, and you can pick him up for a 2nd round pick, this is a good deal... if.... and... only... if... you have the cap and roster space yourself.

Owners need to remember that you only have 27 roster spots. I've seen many owners that get 3 decent guys for a stud, then end up cutting one of those three. Not smart.

When dealing, try and take all factors into consideration. Will it help me make the playoffs this year or next year; does it put me over the 27 man limit of who I want to cut; will that player kick my butt in the playoffs; etc.

All advice is welcome from all owners. Anything that can make all our leagues more competitive makes the game more enjoyable. I hope that even if you don't agree with someones suggestions, personal attacks won't be made at individuals. By and large this is a very good community, with great input from many owners. Lets keep it up.
