Crap is right
Yes, I had every reliever set for a role. No, I didn't change their settings. Ken G. suggested below that having 6 pitchers listed as starters might have affected the robot. Well, I checked the manual before I did it, and it mentions the poassibility of 6 starters and makes no mention of negative effects. If 6 pitchers hurts your case, why the hell isn't that listed?
I am curious, what exactly are the parameters of long relief, middle relief, and short relief? These titles seem nebulous and mean different things to one player than they do to another. Does a long man only come in if your pitcher doesn't make it through the requisite 4 innings (something the robot doesn't always insist upon)? When does middle come in? Inning 5? 6? 7? (By the way, the guy the robot brought in in the 5th was listed as short) And, all things being equal ( readiness, available BFA, etc..) why would the robot pick a worse pitcher over another available one -assuming you had left and right available?
Also, Randy Johnson, I listed as long relief. Now, 5 games into the playoffs he is unused. Why? After 2 away games and the travel day he came up rusty. I try to use him at home and when I switch on bullpen he's not even listed? I can't find Randy!
If this is because I have 13 pitchers listed -fine. But why isn't that caveat listed in the manual? How come no limitations on how many pitchers you carry if they won't even be avaialable? If that is the case, why is information like that avialable to the inner circle only? I like a balanced playing field. I do my homework. With three teams I have made 5 trips to the playoffs in the last 2 years. But this is frustrating. I can't fight what I can't see.
