I agree that variables like OBP might change the equation. An owner might also give FA for certainty if he were in a position to hold onto the guy or platoon him. Other stats would be important. If he steals, he can pitch-run. Is he rated at other positions so he can function as a utility guy? Does he kill lefties or have a high OBP?

That said, I would probably give an FA 4 for him, on average, if I needed the pt at second. I would want back no lower than an FA 6, probably a 5.
