I had Hairston figured as this one. I was thinking of him when I put in the variables in my post below.
I took him in trade for Carlos Guillen on a team where Guillen was one of three Shortstops and I had Orlando Hudson (Trad). This is a perfect illustration of how subjective trades are.
Hairston is a good platoon partner for Hudson, has some upside, and I wasn't going to get anything significant for Guillen.
If I had been sitting on a second basemen who could hit both lefties and righties with some consistency, I wouldn't have given Hairston a second look.
Something that hurts this players' value now that the name is supplied is the uncertainty of what Baltimore will do at second base now that they have Tejada.
