Actually a common day off at the end of every even
numbered series would make a lot sense. That would
give a 175 day season (MLB has a season of about 180-181 days)
and make it a little easier to get those ace starters
their 35 starts.

In the absence of such a change though you can get your
220-225 inning starters all their innings by using them
on 3 days rest from time to time. Not quite sure though
if you can get all 250+ innings from Schilling and Erickson
with this plan though.
