Opposite Field Dingers
Hi, All,
After 1 LL and 1+ TL League season, I'm inclined to question the relationship of the play-by-play to player stats and even to situations (infield in, corners in, etc.). When I was in a LL, I kept score books (e.g., F8,6-4-3, etc.) of my home games. I noticed the off-field homer anomoly right-away, but I also recognized that I was looking at a very small sample. One problem with PB: not enough stats. We can only guess about the accuracy of the Sim, since it would be VERY tedious, and in this case impossible, to examine all the stats from even a single league, let alone all of the leagues. I don't even know if the folks at PB record where balls are hit.
In my opinion, which I have expressed to PB, what's needed is full score-books, rather than just box-scores, and a way for the curious manager to download a file containing all of the scorebooks for each league. If this data were available, we (I'm sure there are other computer programmers besides me who'd be willing to do this) could help them analyze and improve their game using *facts* instead of vague feelings of uneasiness and frustration, which is all *I* have to go on right now.
Keep in mind that I'm not so much *complaining* as I am *relentlessly goading* the folks at PB to give me what I want!
