Post Rookie Draft Trades/Cap Issues
Mike,
I too agree that the random order of FA draft is good. I would love to know where I will pick but think the level of uncertainty adds to intrigue.
I also do not buy into arguments of non-contenders who want to be more favorably positioned. There are many ways to address needs in FA draft.
I do have a question though-Does knowing the FA draft order post rookie draft and pre-cuts make sense for cap-impacted teams?
1) Does it make more sense for cap-impacted teams to now wait till FA draft order is announced so they know where they stand. Best example would be if you have a team over the cap and you have one extra star outfielder you are reluctant to trade; you get the 1st FA pick and know you can draft Guillen if you want.
Is this good, not good or necessary? I'm not sure.
I do know i have 2 teams that are battling to get below and I'm wondering if I am now better off waiting to trade so bottom line-maybe knowing is good but we will have a quiet period set in soon till we know exact FA order???
