Strategy

Sounds like the guy came up with an idea to maximize his usage of Glavine. His method will catch up later in the series. He won't have the BFAs to really be a factor more than 1 start, or will be a reliever who is always tired. Either way, if the series extends he might be hosed.

As an aside, a lot of teams in older days pitched guys on short rest in the World Series. Whitey Ford did it a lot for the Yankees Glory teams, as did Koufax and Drysdale for the Dodgers, or Gibson for the Cardinals, or McLain and Lolich for the Tigers. Just because a guy pitches a lot in the championship doesn't mean it is unrealistic. It means he may have come up with an idea to maximize his usage of his best pitcher(s).

Just a thought...
