This looks like it helps everyone??
This approach would help everyone. It helps the bottom feeders because they know that if they can get to the bottom of the standings they are guaranteed a better player than they would have under the current system... thus encouraging more tanking to get to the bottom.
The results of the increased tanking will help contenders also. Since you will know that there are 3 or 4 teams not trying (because they need to get to the bottom) the contenders could identify those teams as easy wins and they could start their bench guys against these teams, saving valuable PAs and IPs to use against the teams that are trying. This means that the contenders don't need as much quality depth on their bench.
The results of this help the middle of the road teams stay in the middle of the road. Since there won't be any market for those one year players with a nice platoon split they won't be able to trade them .......... oh wait.... this doesn't help them.....
Looks like the argument falls apart.... I guess this is a bad idea after all.
