As I was reviewing Barry Bonds career stats, I remembered that he was the first pick by the Lima Express in D5's original formation draft back in the old CSN leagues. Looking back through the season stats, I realized that D5 was formed in 1988, with the first season played based on the 1987 final season stats. I can only find records of CSN seasons in D5 from the 1990 season (based on 1989 stats)...so I might be mistaken.
If, indeed, the first CSN season was in 1988, then we are starting the 17th year for D5!
I suspect there are alot of PB managers that have had teams for over 10 years...so a long term stategy to build a winning team really works. Most of us managers tend to stick around because we like the long-term enjoyment of being the "GM."
If anyone else has a better recollection of the starting years of various leagues, it would be interesting to read.
Of interest in my D5 Lima Express...original draftees that are still on the team include Barry Bonds, Tom Glavine, and Rafael Palmiero. Still going strong after 17 years!!
