{... discussion about Jose Guillen deleted since its no longer a hot topic...}

Also - as an aside for the M.Giles/Vidro offer...expecting a top 10 pitcher for ANY single player is pretty unrealistic from my viewpoint. I wonder in how many leagues the playoff winner doesn't have at least 1 Pedro type pitcher

-----------------------------------

Questions/Comments:

(1) You say expecting to get a top 10 pitcher for ANY single player is unrealistic. So do you mean to tell me (for an extreme example) that there are 10 pitchers in MLB that you would rather own than Alex Rodriguez? I can't name ONE that I would take over Arod.

(2) What is the definition of a Pedro type pitcher? Is Hudson one? Is Brown one? Is Mulder one? How many of them are there? Last year I won a championship in one league with a rotation of Morris, Wood, Colon, and Glavine. Which (if any) of them meet the criteria of "Pedro type" I think I have won other times without a grade 8 starter... but I can't remember the rosters

(3) Who are the top 10 pitchers? From my discussions with various people I have concluded that there are at least 25 pitchers that are thought to be in the top 10 by their respective owners. So does that mean that there are really 30 pitchers out there that are more valuable than the best middle infielders in the game? Perhaps there are and I've been missing the boat all these years.

For better or for worse I have always made having a good solid infield a priority and its helped the stability of my teams. Maybe I overvalue the good 2B, 3B, and SS .... but I've been able to keep the Damion Easley's and Rey Ordonez'sof the world out of my lineup by making sure I was solid at those positions and I believe it has helped. But as you say it takes me 8-10 trips to the playoffs per championship win so maybe I have missed the boat on pitching.
