Looks to me like this unmanaged team did well.
The team gave up Pedro Martinez, Bill Mueller, Cesar Izturis, LaTroy Hawkins, Mariano Rivera, Roger Clemens, Rafael Palmeiro, and David Riske.
I'd say only Pedro had any long term value from the above bunch.
Some of the new faces arriving to this team were: Byung Kim, Troy Glaus, Kevin Millwood, Edgar Renteria, Adam Eaton, Erubiel Durazo, and Ray Durham.
Glaus and Renteria are young studs, Millwood and Eaton can be a very good 2-3 in the rotation, Kim has great stats and only in his 20's, plus can start, while Durham could be turned over again for more young players, and Durazo is only one season removed from a 900 OPS, and is still young.
I'd say this team is better off than before.
