Clarification on Joey's reject

Posted By Tim A.

I will try to post facts and not opinions so as to not add gas to the fire.

The trade is in a Trad League. I have been trying to acquire a 2B so that I don't have to use Jeter or Renteria at 2B and finding a quality 2B has been hard for me to do. The main reason I care about defense at 2B is that I have two severe groundball pitchers in my rotaiton. After failing in attempts to acquire Giles, Vidro, Kent, and Boone at (what I think would be) reasonable prices I decided it might be worthwile to get Mora for a one year solution at 2B.

I offered to send joey:
Kelvim Escobar / Peter Munro
for
Melvin Mora / Paul Quantrill

Joey counter offered with the following trade which I signed

Kelvim Escobar / Peter Munro / FA #3
for
Melvin Mora / Paul Quantrill / FA #5

I think Escobar is worth more than Mora and so does joey. Mike has indicated that Mora's 2003 stats are worth a higher premium than Escobar.

I think the deal as proposed helps both teams, Mike appears to disagree as he vetoed the trade, then vetoed it again after both teams explained their reasons.

I will leave other opinions I have about this issue out of the bulletin board so that I don't throw gas on a controversial fire.

After seeing the vetoes I have tried to come up with a 3 way deal for a different 2B that I think may suit everyone's needs a little better. Not sure if that will work... time will tell.
