...and Quantrill
I suppose you could argue that because of "POTENTIAL", Escobar is worth more than Mora.
However, from REALITY - actual performance:
Mora will be a 1.007 Lops/.897 Rops with over 400 PA's who can cover 2B, SS, LF, CF, RF for you next year.
Quantrill is an 8.3/8.1 reliever with .547/.575 LOPS/ROPS over 77 IP.
Quantrill alone is worth more than Escobar IMOP - at least this year, and for my 2 cents, I'd rather have Quantrill the next 3 years than Escobar's "potential".
Escobar's career stats:
849 IP
4.58 ERA
1.461 WHIP
Last year:
180 IP
4.29 ERA
1.48 WHIP
I'm not seeing the reason to think he's turned the corner and is going to perform above his career numbers.
What am I missing?
I'll take the 8.3/8.1 reliever with both rops/lops under 6.00.
Not to mention a guy who plays multiple positions with 1.00+/.897 lops/rops.
If POTENTIAL were a reason for allowing trades, I should be able to trade Rick Ankiel for Pedro Martinez. Ankiel is younger with more "POTENTIAL" years left to him. BTW - I've got Ankiel on 2 teams and will make that trade to whoever wants it.
