Check out the ROPS
To heck with the 5.8.
If he can't get out righty batters, he's toast (though I have to admit his RT stats were pretty decent in several leagues - but I'd rather ignore facts that fly in the face of my arguments. It did look like righty batters were hitting around .300 against him though - maybe opposing managers always played lefties against him since he was a righty pitcher? That will teach you not to rely on platooning.)
and you obviously undervalue relief pitchers.
Give me 70+ innings of LOPS/ROPS under 6 over 180 innings of ROPS over 8 any time.
With a 35 man roster there are plenty of spots to get enough innings to fill the season. Quality innings are more valuable than just innings.
Good relievers in TRAD are easier to find in the FA draft because guys with poor season get dropped and then when they rebound are available in the FA draft. It is hard to predict some of the relievers who will have great years, but in TRAD you know before the season starts.
That said, if Quantrill & Escobar are available in round 2 of a TRAD FA draft, who do you grab? I'll take Quantrill.
