One reason the trade may have been rejected is because of PB value this year. Hernandez's PB value is 7+ while Lawrence is about 4+ or a difference of about 3. So how many Starting Pitchers with a PB value of 3 or more are available in the FA draft? In most Leagues there is only 2 or 3 FA starters with 3 or more PB value available. The likelihood of getting a FA pick in the top 3 is not real good. I know that PB value is not a true indicator of player value but it may be being used (along with other factors) to help make decisions about trades. Personally, if I was re-building I would want the Lawrence/#1 FA. If not, I'd like the Hernandez and a #4 or #5 FA (not an #8 FA) in return.
