Arizona's trades in the last year.
OK, I analyzed his most recent deals.
I looked at the recent trades:
3-15-04 Colon for Webb. A recent study was done showing rookie pitchers drafted in the 1st round fail over 50% of the time. Gaining a good experienced pitcher might be smarter. Trade seems fair.
3-16-04 Spezio for #1 Fa pick – There are no 3B in the FA draft as good as Spezio. Additionally after the first 5, no great players, so this is fair.
7-17-03 Shields & Keilty for Villafuerte, Rodriguez, and Endy Chavez This is a bad trade. Arizona got the better of it by getting Shields and Keilty.
3-9-03 Jeff Bagwell, Shannon Stewart, Adam Eaton, Chris Carpenter, Tim Redding, Kevin Brown for Luis Gonzalez, Joel Pineiro, Ryan Klesko To me it looks like Arizona really got screwed on this deal by only getting Gonzalez, Pineiro and Klesko. In a couple years, all they will have left is Pineiro while Stewart, Eaton and Redding will still be going strong, with Carpenter also possibly coming back from his injury.
Win some, lose some. It looks like he doesn't trade as much, and recent deals look fair.
