Completely agree. The draft is more important than trading.
Completely agree. The draft is more important than trading. Trade to get the missing piece of the puzzle(either to win a pennant or fill in a position) or to rebuild. Don't get me wrong, trading is fun, just be careful, and smaller trades are easier to evaluate.
Drafting can get you good prospects, as well as guys to help you this year.
In C2, the Dragons picked up 2 outstanding relievers in the 1st round to help win this year, then in the second round picked up the Braves Estrada for long term. Rounds 3-5 will get some guys to round out the team, platoon, etc., then rounds 6-8 will get some longshot youngsters, pitching, etc., that may help in 2-3 years.
If you look at this years 1st and 2nd round FA picks, most of these guys were available last year in the FA draft and could have been picked up in the 6th - 8th rounds, so doing your homework can make your team strong.
