New Draft Order
I'm obviously in the minority here, and I understand the interest in parity. However I think this new draft order proposal goes too far. Every month there are a handful of outstanding young players on the draft list. Teams will tank a season to pick up a half dozen or so outstanding young players, which they will be able to do if picking in the top six every month, and in a year or two certainly should build a powerhouse. This can't be compared to MLB's waiver wire because that is basically castoffs for the most part. Granted, my team is off to a pretty good start, so maybe I'm a little biased. I was in a league a few years ago that did something similar to this, and it was too much. If you won one year, you pretty much had no chance to repeat. The year end draft should be the equalizer, but a monthly equalizer is too much.
Maybe a lottery system like the NBA uses would be a good idea. That way the teams with the worse record will get more high picks, but teams with good records will still be able to pick up an occasional prospect. After all, the Yankees do still get to sign good prospects. Lets not be like the government and reward the inefficient too much, and punish the efficient too much.
