Not true - no tanking
The COMMISH will work to stop tanking.
Here is a portion of a post he made this year on the subject:
2. Trading older currently valuable players for prospects is NOT trying to win now, but also NOT tanking.
3. Not paying as much attention to your teams which are not contending is human nature. Trying to insure their loses IS tanking.
4. Deliberately trying to lose games by intentionally walking batters or putting in very poor relief pitchers when winning the game IS tanking and cause for expulsion. That expulsion would have to be preceded by a warning but if coupled with other obvious and repeated "TANKING" behavior would cause me to consider immediate expulsion from the league and or PB.
I urge managers upset about tanking in your league to do the following:
1. Report it to the commish via email. Include any or all evidence you have and make sure your behavior is above reproach or be ready to defend it.
2. Feel free to discuss the problem in your league or PB forums but only AFTER you have reported it to the commish!
Reasonable negligence is to be expected here and I urge all of us to gently urge roster moves by managers who leave good players on the farm too long. I want to know about these situations too, but we must understand that PB is a hobby and managers are entitled to mistakes of negligence.
Repeated attempts to gain advantage by intentionally losing, however wil not be tolerated.
In response to specific claims below on the board:
Please let me know if you are sure that behavior such as intentionally losing home games by use of obviously "losing" strategy has continued.
If you have been accused of such behavior, please email me and give me reason to believe you have either mended your ways or you were falsely accused.
Everyone should understand that this is my hobby too and that I will quickly sacrifice the few to make the majority of us straight shooters happy with out baseball environement.
