You were right the first time
Unless you pick in the first 6-8 spots there is
no way to get any starting pitching. Giving the
same teams free starting pitching for the first
few months of the season can completely change
the complexion of a team. Meanwhile an owner who
gets off to a good start is destined to run out
of starting pitching at some point because no
innings of any quality at all are available deep
in the first round of the free agent drafts
(unless you get lucky).
I agree with another post: The talent
inequities should be handled in the offseason.Keep the
free agent draft random. Penalizing smart owners
in the middle of an ongoing season is not fair.
