I think the deal looks a lot worse because of the drafting involved. Madsen with the ninth pick? Relievers should never go that high. I mean, last year I got KRod with the 2nd pick - of the second round!

Greene, Crosby, Morneau, Jackson, Weeks, Mauer - if any one of those guys fell to the ninth pick, which I guess happened in most drafts, then it's not that bad at all for a team that can protect second round picks. Throw in Gonzalez and Laird (or the mystery guy that everyone falls in love with,for me it was Tsao), and there's your nine picks.

I'm truly amazed that the computer would use the ninth pick like that.
