Uncertainty...
I'm all for uncertainty. I just don't like being handcuffed by an early season injury that's going to very possibly force me to lose my starting first baseman in my league for even longer than he was injured in real life. To me, that's not uncertainty, that's just unrealistic.
Maybe moving players to a DL should only be an option for players who open the season with injuries. Then, mid-season injuries could be treated with the same spicy uncertainty we've all grown to love. I would much rather just lose Nick Johnson for the first 6-8 series off the bat than lose him for the first 2-3 series while he builds stats and then ALSO lose him 6-8 series later in the season.
