Injuries/Usage

Posted By GSH

I see your point, a guy who has to rehab should be able to pass time on your DL, concurrent with our schedule. The Expo's are only going to miss NJ for the time he missed in the season.

This RT, right? Our game should be adjusted to reflect this dynamic.

MLB teams have their whole Minor League systems available to immediately call guys up. We have to wait for the monthly FA draft

Also, the quirk of allowing players with low IP/PA, who were injured early in the MLB season to accumulate large numbers of either in our game---due to the way usage is imposed, needs to be addressed. See Tony Armas last year.

My advice: As soon as he has even one PA, play him until he gets hurt. This way he will be injured for a time, usually less than his actual number, and he can accumulate PA and be ready to go after recovering. Where the game really penalizes you is if/when he is hurt again, the frequency factor in PB can be harsh to guys with multiple trips to the DL.

What is more frustrating is when a guy never has an injury number---i.e was never officially disables and goes down for 20 odd games like Lowell did for me last year. Granted, he did not play the last month of the season, but he was never on the DL.
I was robbed of using him as PH or late inning guy in crucial situations at home over the last month.
