One example?
First - let me say I disapprove of playing guys out of position except out of necessity (injury?).
I've never tried an OF at 1B (I don't recall at least).
I wouldn't want to mess up a real game just to find out,
So...I went to the demogame for Purebaseball and tried Sammy Sosa at 1B. He was fielding 0 there when you right clicked on him so he really was out of position.

Here are all the results of plays that involved Sammy at 1B. The balk at the end may or may not have had anything to do with who was at 1B - probably not, but I thought it interesting. I didn't know it was possible to balk when the bases were loaded. Is it?
Sammy did pretty well overall I thought.
Inning 1:
grounder to short. Vizquel comes up with it"and throws on to first for the out
Palmeiro chops it down the first base line. easy pick for Sosa...and he'll make the play unassisted.
Inning 2:
bouncer to shortstop. Fielded on the run by Vizquel. He guns it across - in the dirt, but Sosa snags it for the out. Velarde comes across the plate. O'Neill moves to second
Hit hard on the ground to Vizquel. He backhands it, pivots, sets and throws to first to retire Steinbach.
Inning 3:
Bouncing ball to first base. Sosa fields it and races to the bag for the putout.
Inning 4:
bounced to third Williams fires to second for one - across to first...for the easy double play! Larkin goes to third.
Inning 5:
No plays – 3 K’s.
Inning 6:
hard bouncer to third. Williams comes up with the tough hop, he throws across the infield to Sosa for the out.
Inning 7:
bouncing ball over first, Sosa gloves it deep behind the bag(the underhand flip to Maddux covering...and Anderson is out - bang! bang!
grounder to Alomar..he's up with it(and fires over to Sosa for the third out.
Inning 8:
Palmeiro scalds one"Vizquel gloves it in self defense! over to first for the out
Inning 9:
the pitch. grounder up the first base line and Sosa gets in front of the ball. He boots it anyway and Fernandez is going to be safe on the E-3.
Johnstone throws to first - and now Anderson breaks for the plate...but the ump called a balk! everyone will move up, and Anderson's happy as he crosses the plate. Piazza is nose to nose with the ump, but Williams pulls him away - good move!-Anderson comes across the plate. Fernandez moves to third. Palmeiro goes to second.
Game is Over
