Good Point

Posted By Steve Jr.

This is a good post in the fact that yes, like all trades, some work out for one of the teams to various degrees and some break even. However, I believe the spirit of unmanaged trades is what is being distorted. It was my belief from the onset that unmanaged trades were to be used to fill roster holes and help manage your roster better given that a guy on an unmanaged team was the best solution... Even so, the team initiating the trade would pay almost an "extra tax" if you will, just to ensure that the unmanaged team makes out pretty well - always making it look good for potential new owners.

The catch comes when guys try to steal away not only top talent, but top young talent from unmanaged teams. And steal is maybe the wrong word as sometimes how can Mike not approve these deals for the unmanaged team? Even if it's against his original intentions, these deals look good for these teams... So this post is not going in any real direction for or against unmanaged trades because the line is so thin as to who, for example, is young talent and who is a utility player? But I can tell you that I do not look at unmanaged teams to acquire the Pujols, Webbs, and Cabreras of the the world of baseball - but because some people do, you may call that unfair. Then again, this just me be my problem...
