Good sportsmanship??
I've been taking a pretty heavy beating lately regarding a perception people have that I did something unsportsmanlike....
But I saw a trade offer recently that made me wonder. I'm going to remove a lot of the names in an attempt to conceal the identity of the other team.... but
On March 30th I received a trade offer. It was a 3 for 2 deal that looked something like this:
Receive:
1) Carlos DelGado
2) 25 year old bottom of the rotation starter
Give:
1) A good 1B that is 2-3 years younger than DelGado
2) A non-elite closer. The guy isn't Mariano Rivera but he's been a decent closer for a while
3) A hitter (OF/1B/DH) that has been on the DL most of the season and just came off.
I assume the guy was probably being honest and I am intentionlly leaving out most of the names in the trade to (hopefully) protect the identity of the other team. However, I wonder if the conspiracy theorists would find the timing of the trade interesting. The trade was received on the evening of May 30th. Rototimes.com told me on May 30th that DelGado may need a trip to the DL due to an injury sustained on May 29th. My hitter came off the DL over the weekend.
Forget about my perceived valuation of the players, my question to the conspiracy theorists is the timing relative to injury information.
