An Alternative Perspective
I thought a second opinion from a veteran PB manager who does not play in G4 might be useful here. First let me say that I know from reading the discussion board that there has been a history of frustration with the Arizona manager. I should mention for the record that I have never played in this league, I do not know the Arizona manager, in fact I know only a handful of managers in G4. What I am about to say might be unpopular but I think it provides another perspective.
At first glance this trade looks one sided. However I think those that are protesting are missing an important point. From the perspective of the managerless team the question asked should be "Is this team better without the trade?" In my opinion the answer would be no. From that perspective I think the trade makes sense. While there are several players who can help a contender now (Percival, Sanders, Mueller) most of those guys are old and their skills are declining. Two years from now the only guy the managerless team might miss is Hernandez. On the other hand Hall, Baez, the #1RK, the #1FA, and possibly the #3RK should be useful players. Is the trade even in the present? -- not even close. Is it helpful to the managerless team in the future? -- I believe it is. Remember too that the trade was made on the last day before the deadline. Did anyone else in the league make any offer for Percival, Sanders, Mueller, Hernandez? Anyone of the active managers had a chance at those players. My guess is that this was not the commish choosing the Arizona offer over other offers but rather trying to decide whether or not this specific offer was better for the managerless team then no moves at all. In that respect I commend the Arizona manager for being aggressive enough to go after the players he wanted. This is not ment to defend the Arizona managers past actions, only to point out that the commish was trying to do what is best for the managerless team and from that perspective I think the trade helped the managerless team even if it simultaneously helped an unpopular manager. I am curious if after reading my reply if anyone else sees it this way.
