Bill James 2005 Handbook now available
I just got my copy of the new 2005 Handbook.
Now, I start my preparation for the rookie draft next season.
I'll start by reviewing all the stats.
I'll isolate and make a database of the rookies...easy to make...any player whose only MLB experience was the 2004 season is a rookie.
Then I'll start cross-indexing the players with reviews from any baseball source I can find...such as Baseball America, Baseball Weekly (as it used to be known), Baseball Digest, Sickel's Prospect Book, etc. By draft time, I'll have several sources ranking rookies, and can see who I can predict has the best chance to be good...long-term. Then I analyze my team needs (short and long-term), and start to prioritize my prospect lists for each PB team. This is really a fun time for the PB experience.
Anyone else got "the book" yet?
So, all those whose teams need to get better...now is the time to get working!!
