It appears young players have a lot more value than vet. Old guys will get traded to a team in contention and have a need. Otherwise, forget it. Nobody wants an old timer.

I suppose it makes sense that everybody wants youngsters. A good youngster can be on a team for 10-15 more years. That's a lot of production. Even if the youngster isn't that productive now, the potential for improvement is there. Old timers rarely improve in the late stages of their careers.
