The free demo is still up and running. If you go to the demo site you can play test games to see if all is working ok.

This would at least let you try various things without locking up an actual game.

As for the play by play, under VIEW there is an option for displaying the various windows and one of them is the play by play. Perhaps you just need to click on that? Again, you could try the demo game and try to get the screen set the way you want. It could be the play by play is just at the edge of the screen - perhaps you can drag it back up?

Is it possible your virus protection or firewall are not set to allow PB access and that is blocking you from sending games? I thought the spyware seemed a likely culprit but you said you checked that.
