If you have the play by play set to hide, doing hide all and then unhide all or even just unhide all will not change the setting for play by play.

The view lists all the various windows including play by play and also a hide all/unhide all option at the bottom.

You have to select to not hide the play by play.

Under view it lists:

TOOLBARS
STATUS BAR

HIDE LINEUPS
HIDE OVERHEAD
HIDE PLAY BY PLAY
HIDE SCOREBOARD
HIDE BATTER'S STATS
HIDE PITCHER'S STATS
HIDE ALL

You need to specifically select the play by play to show. Perhaps it is not? If so instead of saying:
HIDE PLAY BY PLAY
it will say:
SHOW PLAY BY PLAY

Just in case you have trouble getting the view screen to show, you can also use keyboard commands:
alt V then P
(hold alt key and press v - then press P)

You might want to try the free demo game as I suggested and try this out even if you have no games to play. You can play the demo game any time and also get more familiar with the game controls - plus perhaps try to see if you can send in games.
