I traded for Bonds in my C16 team years ago.

I traded Manny Ramirez and Scott Ruffcorn (remember him?...top pitching prospect)
for Bonds.
Manny is a superstar...but still not Bonds equal. In a few years, when Bonds is retired, Manny will still be playing. Then the other team starts to come out ahead. But having Bonds for the last 5-6 years has enabled my team to be perrenial contenders.
There is risk in trades...for all concerned.

The rookie draft picks I have gotten down around pick no. 18, 19, or 20 in the first round have included guys like Hafner and Blalock (in D5!!), star prospects that had weak rookie seasons, and got bypassed for players that put up more useful numbers for the next season...but don't have the long-term potential of the guys I was amazed to get.
