my previous reply to starting over
Posted By Bob C
I would not like to see leagues start over except as a last resort. Many managers are fond of their teams and may not keep as many teams or even play at all if they were forced to start over. I am a PB founder with four teams (one dating back to the old CSN days)and if we started over I would probably only keep two teams. I would like to propose a comprimise solution. I have examined only traditional leagues but I suppose something similar could be done with RT leagues. First keep the two 24 team leagues (K-17 & 98T-1) as is. There are currently 25 traditional leagues composed of 20 teams. Any of these leagues that have four or more unmanaged teams (currently 13 leagues fit this description) take a vote of the current managers to see if they would be willing to disband the league. If the league is a dedbeat league where there is little trading and a majority of the games do not get played until Tuesday perhaps the majority of managers, particularly those with multiple teams would not mind losing that team. However if the majority of the current managers in the league vote to keep playing, do not disband the league against their will. Traditinal leagues currently missing four or more managers include: C2, S3, M7, B8, W9, C11, M13, B14, Challanger, 98T2, 99T1, 99T3, 00T1. Of course all of these leagues contain inactive managers who are present in name only. There are several teams in my four leagues who have managers who have not made a roster move, made a trade, or actively managed a game in 3-4 years. How about it guys? If half of those struggling leagues voluntarily disband the managers who wish to replace their team could pick up a team in an existing league. This would help the remaining leagues. Preference for choice of new teams could be determined by how many teams you lost as well as PB seniority. For instance a nwewbie who lost three teams would have priopity over a veteran who lost two teams. A veteran who lost two teams would have priority over a newbie who also lost two teams etc. One other thought.. I would create one new 30 team league for those interested. If it works well a second league could be formed but only after the first league has one successful season. Managers for the new 30 team league would be chosen on a first come first serve basis. What do you think? Is this a reasonable way to eliminate weak leagues while making the surviving leagues stronger? It is our hobby .. I think discussion on this issue is important to the future of PB.
