Lack Of Activity
I've played in numerous sim leagues for many many years, the traditional kind, and there has generally been LOTS of trades. One league has an annual spring convention at which 150 trades are made over a weekend. It occurs to me that Real Time is another matter. We face the same problems as real GMs, not knowing what next week will bring. I almost traded a good backup catcher..then Kendall got hurt. No luxury of knowing what next season's production will be. This slows activity, just as in real baseball. I make lots of deals for reasons you all have listed...creativity, trying to be fair, and ridiculing bad offers only with a smile...and I do get them. I do feel that a new manager in a league IS a target, though...for 2 reasons: 1. He MAY be stupid and the rest of the league wants to be first to find out. and 2. He will certainly want to shake the team up, and will almost surely make 5-6 deals in the first month or so. So it's best to treat a newcomer with respect, make a good deal for both teams, and enjoy a lasting relationship in the player market.
