Poor Yankees!!
As a long time Red Sox fan I cannot take great joy in Yankee stupidity. Actually what the Yankees did is good for baseball. They may think that they have the starters that they need to get to the world series in 2005 (and make no mistake about it, that means beating the Red Sox) but do they? Is Pavano the guy that PB managers would be drooling over this off season? How many of you would trade for Randy Johnson at his age unless you were sure he would put you over the top? I speak only for trad manager here. I guess a better question is how many RT manager would give away the store to pick him up for next season? I've noticed (duh) that most PB managers want to go young and often hesitate to trade for players over 30-32 unless they are super stars. Well as correctly stated in the above post the current New York Yankees are grey beards. George's approach will sooner or later cost the Yanks several future super stars. In the mean time, lets all watch the creaking bones, knees, backs, and rotator cuffs as they slowly but surely succomb.
Now having started this post off admitting to being a Red Sox fan let me try and allay the David Wells situation. Yes I think Theo laid an egg there but it is only money and he didn't have to give up any prospects. In fact, the Red Sox for the second time in two years haven't given up a prospect. There's a new Nomar down there in the minors.
Okay guys, blast away.
